SAXO: Award-winning headquarters with excellent indoor climate

Saxo Bank relocated to their new-built, award-winning headquarters at Tuborg Havn (Hellerup) in Copenhagen in August 2008. One of the technical challenges was to deliver acceptable indoor air quality to the dealer floor where around 250 staff are located. The dealer floor is often a stressful environment with lots of heat generated by countless numbers of computers and screens, and a modern dress code - it all adds up to an environment that is definitely not conductive to one's well-being.
"There were serious indoor air quality problems on the dealer floor in our old building in Gentofte. In particular, there were problems with draughts, excessive temperatures and poor air quality. So right from the beginning we knew we had to find new solutions to ensure optimal indoor air quality among the dealers" says Jesper Vangslev Theill, IT Facility Manager at SAXO Bank.
Nana Arkouzi Dahlerup, COO, confirms that they found a solution:
"At our old building in Gentofte the room quickly became uncomfortably warm, but here in the new offices we have excellent indoor air quality, and we decide ourselves if we want more air - it's brilliant!"
"After just a year in our new building we haven't received a single complaint from the dealer department on the fourth floor about bad indoor air quality. And this is despite a massively bigger heating load on that floor from people, PC equipment and incoming sunlight, compared to the rest of the building. We take this as a sign that PV installation makes a difference and meets individual employee temperature and airflow preferences" Jesper Theill concludes.
